So - I would lose the relationships built with the butler - the clubs - everything. And I would keep getting the klepto butler. I tried once I got tired of the fact that a butler was hired but never seemed to get paid. Yes, a playable sim can't have a NPC role and NPCs will loose their role if you start to play with them.
