The connective tissue is probably damaged by an autoimmune reaction. Symptoms include pain, swelling, and inflammation of the skin. WebProliferative fasciitis and proliferative myositis are similar to nodular fasciitis but contain ganglion-like myofibroblastic cells. Proliferative fasciitis is usually seen in the subcutaneous tissue of the upper limbs of middle-aged adults (40 to 60 years), whereas proliferative myositis mainly affects the muscles of the trunk and shoulder girdle.
